VITA Income Tax Preparation
Public assistance, Social Security, Medicaid, Unemployment Insurance, Food Stamps and other government programs were developed by Congress to assist those in need. SCAP assists with working through the "red tape" to secure public assistance when you need it during temporary periods of crisis.
Homelessness Intervention - SCAP provides services to people who are facing eviction or are homeless and works with the Schenectady County Eviction Task Force to resolve systemic problems with housing and related issues. SCAP staff can assist by working to resolve landlord/tenant issues or locating permanent, affordable housing.
Community Crisis Network
SCAP counselors provide crisis intervention services to customers who are unable to meet their basic needs. The Community Crisis Network is a collaborative program of SICM, Catholic Charities of Schenectady, Bethesda House, and the Jewish community. Area congregations provide support for an emergency fund which is used when community resources are unavailable and customers lack food, shelter, medicine and other basic needs. The Community Crisis Network works to connect existing resources to the people that need them most - and is responsible for improving collaborations and identifying gaps in services.
