2012 Tax Reduction Opportunity for
Properties Damaged by
Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee
Several municipalities have approved a 50 percent reduction in property taxes for property value loses of 50 percent or more as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
This is known as the Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee Assessment Relief Act. Counties, towns, villages and school districts have a deadline of Monday, January 30, 2012, to pass a resolution agreeing to participate.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO?
- If the municipality that your property is located in is on the list below, contact the assessor’s office in your municipality BEFORE MARCH 1, 2012.
